TRAM-1 — Haul Rope Inspection and Sheave Change
Annual haul rope inspection with tower sheave assembly change. ANSI B77.1. Evacuation drive must remain available throughout.
It refers to equipment that does not exist and illustrates the elements 29 CFR 1910.147(c)(4)(ii) requires a procedure to contain. It is not a document to adopt. Under (c)(4)(i) the employer must develop and document energy control procedures specific to their own machines, and under (c)(6) must inspect them at least annually.
11 points, in sequence
Both carriers berthed in the terminals and secured. A carrier on span is a suspended load at height.
Main drive disconnect at the summit terminal MCC. 480V feed to the drive and station services.
Drive VFD DC bus discharge point. STORED ELECTRICAL - bus capacitors hold charge after the disconnect opens.
Drive sheave brake hydraulic release. Spring-applied, hydraulically released - isolating the release SETS the brake.
Service brake release line. Second independent brake on the drive train.
Haul rope hydraulic tension supply to the counterweight carriage rams.
Tension system accumulator bleed. Holds rope tension after the pump stops - bleed and confirm the gauge.
Counterweight carriage blocked and pinned on its rails. 40 tonnes of stored gravitational energy.
Evacuation drive and APU. Must REMAIN AVAILABLE per ANSI B77.1 - the only means of rescuing stranded passengers.
Wind monitoring and alarm. Must REMAIN LIVE while anyone is on the line or towers.
Line E-stop and control circuit. Control circuitry only - stops the drive but does NOT isolate energy.
